How do two threads share a variable which is local to a particular method?

Answer by Kaushik D:

The variable 'value' is not local but an instance variable and so, it is stored on the heap (which is shared). If it was defined within the getNext() method it would have been stored on a stack (which is separate for each thread).

How do two threads share a variable which is local to a particular method?
