Is it against the law to take a picture of a female butt in public at a distance?

She felt kind of vaguely disgusted and was about to get back to choosing between rich teas and custard creams when something just snapped in her. She stormed over to the guy with venom in her eyes and absolutely railed into him: 'You are a despicable human being, how dare you? How dare you? You vile, twisted, perverted man – how dare you think that behaviour is acceptable? You delete that now, right now. Delete it. DELETE IT.'

Funny story. My friend was in a local supermarket buying some biscuits when she noticed a man using his phone to surreptitiously take photographs of a younger woman's behind.

The guy had turned bright red and was shaking as he desperately pounded the trash icon on his phone before running off out of sight.

I'd just completed a street photography course and had learnt that it is legal to take photographs of members of the public, generally speaking. But always with the caveat: use common sense, be cool. Or you might get an irate Australian yelling at you in Waitrose.
